y>3x−7y > 3x - 7
y<−x+9y < -x + 9
The point (3,b)(3, b) is a solution to the system of inequalities. How many integer values of bb are possible?

Answer: 3

Substitute x=3x = 3. The first inequality gives b>3(3)−7=2b > 3(3) - 7 = 2, and the second gives b<−3+9=6b < -3 + 9 = 6. So 2<b<62 < b < 6, and the integers in this range are 33, 44, and 55. There are 33 possible values.

Counting the boundary values 22 and 66 gives 55, but both inequalities are strict.
